the past lives only in our memories
records, documents (etc) are biased & more often than not, only reflect one side of the story.
what we know to be truths and facts are as alterable and uncertain as the future.

there are so many copouts in life.
for some, not thinking - strange as it may sound - means not having to get involved, form an opinion or worry.
for others, turning to one religion or another, may be a way of not having to form morals and belief principles of their own.
