:: gallery two :: :: found poetry :: Technically, this collection of poems were not found, so much as they were given to me by the author - Michael Arken. He suffers from severe paranoid schizophrenia. It's diagnosed - I've seen the report. Mostly he goes by the name of Cinnamon or Companion, though this changes from week to week. I was working on the student magazine at my university when he gave me these poems to publish. I never got round to giving them back to him. He never asked. But soon after, I learnt that in one of his fits (he calls them satanic attacks), he destroyed all his poetry books, and I felt they should be kept, so they're put here more for posterity than anything else. When he mentions insane asylums, he is not being poetic. repeatedly he is institutionalised and repeatedly he escapes and is caught again and put back in. At the very least these poems, while not being his best work, offer a glimpse into this poor man's life.... 1 : 2 : 3 : 4 : 5 : 6 : 7 : 8
